The Blue Kangaroo
by Robert A Hastings
Little Joey was different. All the other kangaroo parents kept their children away from him. The other baby animals laughed and teased Little Joey.
The Blue Kangaroo: It’s Nice to be Different, a children’s book by Robert A. Hastings that tells the story of Little Joey, a blue kangaroo born to red kangaroo parents, and his difficulty in finding a place where he can feel comfortable being himself.
Readers are transported into his world and his animal compatriots at the wild animal park, each of whom eventually joins in the search for the young run-away kangaroo. Written to engage and instruct young children, the book is fully illustrated with full-color drawings by the author.
“Little Joey’s story is one of love and acceptance from an early age and seeing past differences through the eyes of youth,” says Hastings. “It’s a warm feel-good story with a little bit of drama along the way.”
